Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue said in June that he “didn’t start off like I should have” as a rookie last year, but that he felt ready to contribute to the Cowboys in 2026.
The Cowboys decided that they don’t agree with that assessment. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that they are waiving the 2025 fifth-round pick as part of Sunday’s moves to set a 53-man roster.

Blue had 38 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown in five appearances for the team last season.
Reports on Sunday also indicate that the Cowboys are waiving Phil Mafah, which would leave the Cowboys without the two backs behind Javonte Williams on their depth chart. That would seem to be a good sign for Malik Davis’s chances of sticking in Dallas and there could be more moves to come as the Cowboys put together their desired backfield.
