It is amazing how quickly the NFL season seems to go by, even more so with the Cleveland Browns actually winning football games before the NFL trade deadline. The Browns enter what seems like a must-win game in Week 9 versus the New Orleans Saints, with the result potentially impacting what GM Andrew Berry decides to do at the trade deadline.
Rumors have been strong around Cleveland looking at defensive end options. Recently, former Browns DE Jadeveon Clowney’s name hit the market, someone Berry tried to reacquire this offseason.

With Shedeur Sanders taking over for Deshaun Watson (concussion protocol) as the starting quarterback this week, a lot of the focus will, rightfully, be on the field in Louisiana, but the rumors around Tuesday’s deadline will continue to swirl as well. According to an Albert Breer rumor, the Browns are looking to be buyers and have two positions in mind:
The Browns are actually positioned now as buyers, which is pretty fascinating. Cleveland has looked around at adding a rotational edge rusher and perhaps a blocking tight end, which would free them up to move Harold Fannin Jr. around even more.
A tight end addition could have a bigger impact on the Browns offense than an edge rusher does on the defense. HC Todd Monken hasn’t used many extra offensive linemen in the blocking tight end role, leaving Fannin or receivers like Malachi Corley to step in there. Finding a quality blocking tight end could unleash Fannin even further while also helping their run game.
An edge rusher could make more direct statistical impact, and a defense can never have too many people to get after the passer.
Do you think the Browns will be buyers at the deadline? If so, what one position do you think they will for sure add someone?
