Bhumi Pednekar made a grand OTT series debut with ‘The Royals’ on Netflix. The series featured a celebrated star cast including Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Ishaan Khatter, Sakshi Tanwar and many more. The first season of the show had opened to mixed reviews but Bhumi Pednekar had become the centre of a lot of trolling.
Pednekar was mercilessly trolled for her acting and looks in the series. So much so that the actress had later taken a break from films and other projects to focus on inner healing. Now, the latest we hear is that Bhumi’s part in the series has now been scrapped. The makers are now planning to focus on other angles of the series and the family dynamics rather than the love angle.
Bhumi’s part to be scrapped?
“When you do a romance, it is the story that leads. When the show came out, what resonated [with the audience] was the family, Ishaan [Khatter], Sakshi [Tanwar], Zeenat, and the world of ‘The Royals’, which feels different,” a Mid-day report stated.
“We left season one with an unresolved romance. There was no decision to carry it forward. There was no fight with Bhumi. The makers are simply letting the story lead forward organically in the second season,” the report further quoted a source.
What Bhumi had said
Bhumi had revealed that following the backlash, the actress decided to take a 6 month long break but didn’t announce it. She said that she didn’t want to dramatize it by announcing and thus kept it to herself. “There was a lot of trolling, a lot of bots. But there was also constructive criticism. That experience made me take some drastic decisions in my life, one of which was to take a break,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
I had completely lost perspective of who I am as an actor and as a person. I needed to step back and reconnect with myself,” she added.
