The Cardinals kicked off their second week of training camp without running back Trey Benson who has now missed the past two practices. On Monday, the team signed running back Evan Hull, further increasing doubts on just what kind of shape Benson is if the team is needing to immediately bring in more bodies to practice.
We’ll see what Tuesday brings, but should Benson miss yet another practice entirely, should we start to massively temper expectations? After missing 13 games a year ago, this is not the foot you want to start out on in camp and history is not usually kind when there’s a lengthy string of setbacks one after the other.

Thankfully the Cardinals are now all-in on Jeremiyah Love (and they still have Tyler Allgeier and James Connor), but Benson looked the part of a future standout two years ago when he was drafted out of Florida State. His ability to get back, and stay healthy, could lead to a wildly productive backfield for Arizona with four real studs to rotate through. It’s more than likely Benson is on his way out of Arizona, but we just can’t help but feel for the guy, regardless.
Let us know how you’re all feeling in the comments below and tell us if this is too early for pessimism or are we rightfully preparing for another letdown!
