Former NBA second-round pick Isaiah Whitehead has called it career, announcing on social media that his playing days are over (Twitter link).

A 6’4″ guard, Whitehead spent two years at Seton Hall prior to being selected 42nd overall in the 2016 draft. The Brooklyn native spent two seasons with his hometown Nets from 2016-18, averaging 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 89 total games (20.5 minutes per contest).

Whitehead was traded to Denver in the 2018 offseason and was quickly waived by the Nuggets. He later finished out the 2019/20 campaign on a two-way deal with Detroit, though he didn’t make any appearances for the Pistons.

Whitehead, 31, has spent most of his professional career overseas, making stops in Russia, Montenegro, Turkey, Germany, Poland and Israel.

• Josh Christopher, the 24th overall pick in the 2021 draft, has officially signed a one-year deal with Ironi Ness Ziona, the Israeli club announced (link to press release). The 24-year-old’s last NBA stint came with the Heat on a two-way deal during the 2024/25 campaign. Christopher spent most of last season in the G League with Miami’s affiliate team, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 22.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals on .495/.351/.789 shooting in 35 games (33.3 minutes per contest). He also had a brief stop in China with Shenzhen.
• Lithuanian big man Donatas Motiejunas is “close” to signing a guaranteed, one-season contract with PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece, confirms Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews. SDNA and Sport24 first reported PAOK’s interest in the former first-round pick, who spent parts of six years in the NBA from 2012-19. The 36-year-old has extensive international experience, most recently playing for Crvena Zvezda.
• Spanish team Unicaja has reached a deal with sharpshooter Matt Thomas, pending a physical, per a team press release. The contract will cover at least two months, with an option to cover the entire 2026/27 season. The 6’4″ guard, who holds three years of NBA experience, split last season with Granada in Spain and Besiktas in Turkey.
