Former NBA forward Wenyen Gabriel has signed with the Turkish club Besiktas, according to Eurohoops.net. Gabriel logged 150 games in the NBA, most recently with Memphis — a five-game stint in 2023/24. His most notable season was a 68-game stint with the Lakers in 2022/23.

Gabriel moved to the EuroLeague with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2024 and later played for Panathinaikos and Bayern Munich.

The embattled Trail Blazers head coach, who was placed on leave one game into last season, has maintained his innocence regarding the federal charges. The case against Billups revolves around a rigged poker game scheme, in which 12 people have already pled guilty. Federal prosecutors in the rigged poker game case, where Billups is a defendant, have asked to move the trial from Nov. 2, 2026 to early 2027. Billups’ representatives argue against the delay, stating, “This case has caused him to lose his livelihood and become subject to an intense degree of public obloquy.”
• Alpha Diallo (Nuggets), Tarik Biberovic (Mavericks) and Mario Hezonja (Cavaliers) signed NBA contracts this summer and agent Misko Raznatovic lashed out at his critics on social media. “For several years now, I have been hearing malicious claims that, for financial reasons, my NBA partners, @excelbasketball and I are unwilling to secure NBA contracts for European veterans. Those claims gained even more traction (sarcasm) this summer when Biberović, Diallo and Hezonja signed NBA contracts—much to the surprise, if not outright shock, of the European basketball community.”
