For the first time in two years, Aaron Donald is officially involved in Rams training camp. Donald, who has been mulling a return from retirement over the last couple of months, worked out with the team on Wednesday. The “workout” was submitted by the team to the NFL, per league rules, because Donald was using team equipment at their facilities at Loyola Marymount University.
It’s not a return yet. But it is the closest thing fans have had so far as proof that Donald has one foot back in the door.
The Aaron Donald saga continues to move forward. Earlier this week, it was reported that Aaron Donald would not rejoin the team until the team returned back to Woodland Hills. However, today’s news certainly accelerates the timeline of Donald’s potential return to the team for the 2026 season. There is also the issue of the $30 million that needs to be worked out.

Speculation on Donald’s return has been a daily recurrence, from one day when he may return midseason to the next when he’s supposedly going to join the team any minute now and go full, 100-percent when the season starts.
And what will Donald’s return do to the players expected to play his position before this all started? Should the team trade Braden Fiske if they’re just going to push him to the side for Donald?
Donald’s return is exciting, but anything other than simple. If there’s anything that’s not confusing though, it’s that every single news item and rumor that has come through since the beginning has gotten Donald closer to return, with not one of those reports suggesting he’s not coming back.
