Hear me out. I fully get why anyone would think the season is over for the Indianapolis Colts. To be honest, most of this article will be used to convince even myself otherwise. You have to consider that schedules aren’t balanced for this to work. Think back to last year, and look at the first half of this year. Outside of the Tennessee flub, every other game the Colts lost was against a tough team. Things are starting to shift in the other direction and provide a tiny bit of hope.
The Colts have six losses against opponents with a 28-19 record. Take out the disastrous Titans game and that record moves to 27-12. That’s a tough start. Now, let’s look at the back half. It sits at 29-37-1, and over the next six games, it’s only 13-31-1. That’s a far cry from 27-12. Yes, there are some caveats. The Colts are also not a great team, and they would essentially need to win 5-6 of those contests. The Bengals, Browns???, and Jaguars sit as formidable opponents in the last three weeks of the season too. It won’t be easy, but it’s not impossible either.

We witnessed 2025 as the Colts started red hot. Why? A soft schedule provided a false sense of security. It got much harder, and the wheels fell off. This season is the inverse. This is where the Colts need to make their move. Three home games before the bye and a date on the road in Houston are up next. This is it. Four wins put them back at .500, which is somewhere no one can imagine at this point. Even a loss has them dangling by a thread at 5-7, but two road games against the Eagles and Titans after the bye aren’t that daunting.
Is it going to be tough? Absolutely. It won’t be Herculean, though. It can be done. The schedule is rounding into the perfect ripeness to get back on track. Things might be very different come the end of November. Then again, a loss against Dallas might be all it takes to permanently flatline this season. All I’m saying is there’s a chance.
