The Raptors have signed former Knicks guard Kevin McCullar Jr. to a two-way contract, the team announced today (Twitter link via Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca).
Toronto waived a pair of two-way players – Trey Jemison and Chucky Hepburn – near the end of the preseason. The team subsequently converted big man Nate Bittle from an Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal ahead of opening night but had held the other two-way slot open until now. Since McCullar will fill that opening, no corresponding roster move was necessary to officially sign him.
The 56th overall pick in the 2024 draft out of Kansas, McCullar spent his first two professional seasons on two-way contracts with the Knicks, playing sparingly for the club. In 25 total NBA appearances, the 6’6″ shooting guard averaged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per contest.
McCullar saw a little more action at the G League level over the past couple seasons. In 2025/26, he averaged 16.8 points, 6.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in 31.4 minutes per game over the course of 14 outings for the Westchester Knicks. Although he filled up the box score for Westchester, the 25-year-old’s shooting line was an underwhelming .422/.299/.667.
It looked this fall like McCullar would spend a third straight year on a two-way deal with New York, but after opening the season with the team, he was waived during the first week to make room for newcomer Dalton Knecht. He has been an unrestricted free agent since then.
McCullar will be permitted to appear in up to 45 regular season games for the Raptors, who would have to promote him to their standard 15-man roster to make him playoff-eligible.
