Yesterday was Cam Ward’s best performance with the Tennessee Titans. He threw for 304 yards and rushed for 41. It was by far the most comfortable he has looked with Brian Daboll as his offensive coordinator. It is hopefully a performance that he can build on going forward.
The best outcome for the Titans is for Ward to develop into the quarterback they thought he could be when they selected him with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Even with most people, myself included, thinking Ward doesn’t have it in him, there is still time for him to prove that wrong. Consistency is going to be the key for him. We saw a couple of really good performances from him last season, but he was never able to stack positive games.

It’s a shame the Titans have their bye this week right when it looks like the offense is finally starting to come together. The Titans play the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, the Jaguars again, and the Washington Commanders coming out of the bye. All three of those teams are pretty bad against the pass. In fact, the Indianapolis Colts, who rank 12th in passing yards per game allowed, are the best defense that the Titans face the rest of the way. Let’s see if they can take advantage.
And one note for those of you worried about draft position: the Titans’ defense ranks 31st against the pass this season. If the Titans are going to win any of those games, they are going to have to consistently get into the high 20s or 30s to have a chance to win. They did it yesterday, but that was just one game. Based on the balance of what we have seen this year, I wouldn’t bet on that happening, but hey, at least shootout losses are fun to watch.
