Cooper Flagg exited to the locker room after getting fouled and falling hard to the court against the Indiana Pacers, and was later ruled out with left shoulder soreness.
Naji Marshall started the second half in place of last season’s Rookie of the Year.
Flagg, 19, had 14 points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals before leaving the game late in the second quarter. Pacers wing Aaron Nesmith made contact with Flagg as he jumped to attempt a dunk and was charged with a flagrant foul on the play.
Nesmith and Marshall were also given double technicals as a scrum ensued after the contentious foul.
Selected first overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, Flagg averaged 20.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals during his first season. He also scored 32 points during his first game of the new season on Wednesday.
Marshall and another former first-overall pick, Zaccharie Risacher, stand to fill the void if Flagg misses time.
