The Los Angeles Rams will place receiver Davante Adams on injured reserve due to a ruptured hamstring that he suffered at the end of Week 6’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, according to Sean McVay. The receiver will miss between 6-10 weeks, which opens up the possibility that Adams will not return to the team this season.
If that is the case, have we seen the last of Davante Adams in the NFL?

In addition, the Rams announced that Poona Ford is out for the year with a torn triceps, and Kobie Turner will miss 4-6 weeks with a groin injury.
Adams came up limping on a non-contact injury on Sunday, moments before the Rams scored a go-ahead touchdown in the final minute. The team did not give any information on what happened to Adams or the extent of his injury after the game, until McVay’s comments on Monday that now point to an extended absence for star receiver.
In six games, Adams caught 30 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns. That includes over 300 yards and two touchdowns in the two games that Puka Nacua missed due to a core injury.

The Rams will have to turn to other options now, which could include an increased role for Tutu Atwell, but also Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, and sixth-round rookie C.J. Daniels. L.A. has largely kept their passing offense contained to Puka, Adams, and Tyler Higbee lately. The team’s other tight ends have not been productive in the passing game and second-year pro Terrance Ferguson is also on IR.
Adams is a free agent in 2027 after completing a two-year, $44 million contract he signed in 2025.
The Rams signed Aaron Donald to boost an already-stout defensive line, but now they lose Ford and Turner with Myles Garrett already on injured reserve. Turner is a free agent in 2027, making his case for an extension even more complicated. Ford was a run-stopper only and now L.A. must rely on players like Tyler Davis and Ty Hamilton to step up next week. Donald has not been the player he was before, even at the tail end, so now is the time for him to bring back a bit of that magic.
