Everyone knew this Tennessee Titans offensive line was going to be tested versus the Houston Texans in Week 5. Prior to this matchup, they had been a surprising strength of a bad offense. The Texans’ defensive line definitely won the matchup.
Titans quarterback Cam Ward was sacked on a season-high four occasions. We’ve seen worse efforts from offensive lines in Tennessee, but this one was particularly bad throughout the second half. Ward was under constant duress and his escapability kept him from taking 7+ sacks.

Ward was 23-of-36 passing for 170 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. On his interception, his arm was impacted by left tackle Dan Moore Jr., who was bull-rushed into the pocket.
Speaking of Moore, he was downright bad. Pro Football Focus credited him with allowing a team-high seven pressures and one sack. Peter Skoronski, Austin Schlottmann, and JC Latham were also assigned blame for sacks. Atonio Mafi wasn’t blamed for a sack, but had the Titans’ worst pass-blocking grade (PFF) at 28.2 in true pass sets.
The offensive line was also collectively whistled for four penalties. Two of them wiped out explosive passing plays. The Titans aren’t good enough on offense (duh) to have the offensive line eliminate explosive passing gains because they got avoidable penalties.
The run-blocking effort was also terrible. Tony Pollard was limited to 3.7 yards per carry, rushing for 52 yards via 14 attempts. Tyjae Spears gained zero yards on two carries and lost a fumble. Kalel Mullings ran once for three yards.

From Ward to Brian Daboll and the playmakers, the Titans have massive issues all over the offense. That’s why they’re currently scoring a league-low 11.6 points per contest. But the offensive line was another unit that totally let the offense down on Sunday. It was an all-around embarrassing effort.
