SB Nation Reacts Results: Ugly Win Gives Vikings Fans Big Confidence Boost

The Minnesota Vikings‘ 9-3 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 2 wasn’t exactly one that anybody would put in the Louvre as far as its beauty is concerned, but it was effective enough to get the Vikings to 2-0 on the young season, as well as put them at 2-0 in the NFC North division race. According to our SB Nation Reacts survey for this week, that’s enough to give the confidence of Vikings fans a significant boost heading into their Week 3 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

We had two questions for Vikings fans to answer this week, with the first one being the usual query as to how positive fans are about the direction of the team. After last Sunday, the number took a big jump upward.

According to those who responded to our poll, 75% of you believe that the team is now heading in the right direction. Given the fact that the number sat at just 46% following the Week 1 win over Green Bay, that’s a pretty big leap. It was at 60% going into the season opener, so one big drop was followed by an even larger increase. Hopefully, we’ll just continue to see that number going upward as the season progresses.

Speaking of the season progressing, our other question for this week was what you thought the Vikings’ record would be going into their bye week, which will happen in Week 6. Their three games between now and then are this week’s game at Tampa Bay, next week’s home game against the Miami Dolphins, and their Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Most of you feel that the Vikings are going to be sitting pretty heading into the bye.

We did get a majority for this one, with 51% of our respondents saying that the Vikings will have one stumble between now and the bye to go into their off week sitting at 4-1. Another 33% believe that they’ll go into the bye with a perfect 5-0 mark, while 13% believe that they’ll drop two of the next three games before they take a week off. Lastly, 4% of those who responded to this week’s poll are, apparently, angry Chicago and Green Bay fans who feel the Vikings are going to hit a three-game losing streak between now and Week 6 and go into the bye staring at a 2-3 record somehow.

I’m not saying that last one can’t happen. . .I’m just saying I don’t think the chances of it happening are very high.
