The Washington Commanders are 0-2, and QB Jayden Daniels re-injured the elbow that sidelined him twice last season. They had two road division games to start the new season, and are now sitting at the bottom of the division. The beginning of the Commanders’ schedule was always expected to be a rough start, but a close loss to the Eagles last week gave fans hope that they could “steal” some tough wins early, before getting to the lighter part of the schedule. That was before Daniels’ injury.
The Seattle Seahawks are coming to town on Sunday for the Commanders first home game of the season. Seattle is 2-0 and won the Super Bowl last season, defeating the New England Patriots. The Seahawks will also likely be playing their backup QB after Sam Darnold went down in Week 1 with a glute injury. Drew Lock stepped in and has led the team to wins the last two weeks, throwing 3 TDs in a 31-7 division win over the Cardinals earlier today. Washington will turn to backup QB Marcus Mariota who took over for Daniels vs the Cowboys, and multiple times during his injury-filled second season.

Opening odds for the Commanders have them as 6.5-point home underdogs against the Seattle Seahawks. That makes Seattle huge road favorites, and shows oddsmakers don’t have much faith in a Marcus Mariota-led team against one of the best defenses in the NFL. It’s also expected to be a low-scoring game with the O/U opening at 41.5.
