Willie Green, Garrett Temple, Joe Boylan, Drew Williamson, Mody Maor, Rob Fodor and Sam Hershberger will serve as assistant coaches under Mavericks first-year head coach Dusty May this season, the team announced in a press release. They will work alongside Nate Mitchell, who joins the organization in a dual role as an assistant coach and head coach of their NBA G League team, the Texas Legends. Tyson Chandler and Quincy Acy are returning in player development roles.

Green, the former head coach of the Pelicans, had reportedly accepted the position as May’s top assistant early this summer and the release confirms he’s on the staff. Green also drew interest from the Warriors to join their staff.

He was dismissed by New Orleans just 12 games into last season following a 2-10 start. He was the Pelicans’ head coach for four full seasons prior to last season, making the playoffs twice.

Temple ended his long playing career after last season in order to join May’s staff. Temple, who spent the last three seasons with Toronto, reunites with former Raptors president Masai Ujiri, who is now the head of basketball operations in Dallas.

Boylan has been an assistant with several NBA teams, most recently with Memphis in 2024/25. Williamson was on May’s staff at Michigan, while Maor was a head coach in Japan the last two seasons. Also of note is the hiring of Fodor as an assistant coach/shooting coach after spending the last 20 years with the Heat.
