The Cleveland Browns initial 53-man roster has already seen changes and will likely continue to see changes over the next week and a half until Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. The difference between last year’s first roster and this year’s is pretty stark, with the practice squad still being filled up with players, including, reportedly, RB Jaleel McLaughlin.
Cleveland GM Andrew Berry is known for “churning” the roster throughout the season, so the idea of stability at the bottom of the roster is unlikely.

On Tuesday, as we wondered if Berry would have interest in QB Joe Milton, reports came out that the Browns have waived CB Michael Coats Jr. and signed DE Sam Williams. Both of those reports were placed in DBN’s Feed, which is easily accessed through the new SB Nation app (come on, had to plug at least a little on Day 1). Then, a little bit later, it was reported that Cleveland was also adding CB Noah Igbinoghene to the 53-man roster:
Unless Williams was signed to the practice squad, the Browns will need to make another move to make room for Igbinoghene.
Quick information on the three players reportedly in and out of the roster today:

Coats was an undrafted free agent who made the initial roster despite an ankle injury that could force him to miss some time at the start of the year.
Williams was a second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2022. He missed all of the 2024 season with a knee injury, after totaling 8.5 sacks in his first two seasons. Last year, Williams played in 474 defensive snaps, the most of his career, but only had one sack and four QB hits.
Igbinoghene was a first-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2020. Cleveland would be his fourth team in seven seasons, including the last two with the Washington Commanders. For his career, the Auburn star has compiled 17 passes defended, one interception, one sack, 119 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two QB hits. Played best in man-coverage schemes
With the Browns set to practice today, the above moves will likely be confirmed soon.
Are you excited about either Williams or Igbinoghene?
