NEW YORK—Roger Federer became a Hall of Famer in an emotional ceremony on Saturday night in Newport.

Five-time US Open Federer was crowned lord of the ring in Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday night.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion Federer, who played an exhibition vs. Andy Roddick on Arthur Ashe Stadium during Fan Week last week, received the International Tennis Hall of Fame ring, the most prestigious ring in the sport, in his US Open return.

The Swiss icon was presented his ring in front of the night session fans by Hall of Fame Co-President Kim Clijsters, and joined on court by ITHF CEO Dan Faber, fellow Co-President Patrick McEnroe, US Open Tournament Director Eric Butorac, USTA CEO Craig Tiley and Chairman of the USTA Board Brian Vahaly.

“It’s been an incredible week, and it gave me the chance to look back at all the incredible people that have helped me along the way, the game that I love so much and what it gave to me,” Federer said.

“I was a little boy who dared to dream when I was young. Everyone who is young in this stadium or at home, hopefully they also have a dream and they pursue it. It can bring you to a place like here tonight, or to getting inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.”

Monday’s ring presentation served as a fitting culmination to Federer’s weeklong induction celebrations. Over the weekend, the champion was honored in Newport, Rhode Island, alongside fellow Class of 2026 inductee Mary Carillo.

Fans, celebrities, and fellow Hall of Famers gathered to watch Federer return to the grass courts during the Hall of Fame Celebrity Pro Classic presented by Fidelity Investments.

The 45-year-old Swiss Maestro showed he can still summon the shot-making muse during his exhibition appearances in Newport and New York.
