[UPDATE 2:43 PM] – Melo says WR Hank Beatty is a strong candidate for the practice squad.
NFL teams had until 5:00 PM Central Time today to trim their rosters down to 53 players. All players who were released today and have accrued less than 4 years of service will be on waivers until 12:00 PM Central. After that, any player who went unclaimed will be a free agent. Those players are free to sign with another team to the active roster or the practice squad.
Practice squads can consist of up to 17 players (16 standard players + one IPP player). Up to 10 of those players can be guys who are rookies or second-year players. During the season, teams can elevate two practice squad players to the active roster. They can also protect 4 players from being signed by another team. Any other player on the practice squad can be signed by another NFL team at any point if that team adds them to their active roster.

Of course, the most interesting name we will be watching is Will Levis. At this point, I don’t know if the Tennessee Titans even want to bring Levis back on the practice squad. He was pretty bad in the preseason, and it might be better for everyone if he gets a fresh start elsewhere.
We will be keeping track of all of the Titans’ practice squad additions here. If you see a name reported on Twitter, feel free to drop it in the comments.
The Titans are a 2.5-point favorite in Week 1 against the New York Jets at FanDuel Sportsbook. If lines for all 17 games were available right now, it would probably be the only game they are favored in. Do you feel confident putting your hard-earned money on the Titans?
