The Seattle Seahawks made one trade during roster cut-down day, giving up next year’s sixth-rounder to the Los Angeles Chargers for undrafted rookie corner Avery Smith. It’s another bit of roster churn in the secondary for the Super Bowl champions, who are probably not done tinkering at the cornerback position.

They lost their 2027 fourth-rounder to the Cleveland Browns to get Beau Stephens, while their sixth-rounder belongs to the Chargers from that aforementioned Smith trade.
Now here comes the fun part: the extra picks.
Yes, the Seahawks are still poised for 11 total draft picks, with a whopping five compensatory picks on the docket. The Coby Bryant comp pick has been downgraded to a projected sixth-rounder due to Bryant’s potentially season-ending knee injury, which will (obviously) impact his snap count and therefore the comp pick formula.

Nolan Teasley going to the Minnesota Vikings to be their GM means that, as a minority candidate, the Seahawks will receive third-round comp picks in the 2027 and 2028 drafts.
Lastly, we do not know the conditions of the seventh-rounder the Seahawks received from the Atlanta Falcons in the Michael Jerrell trade, but if it involved making the 2026 Falcons roster then he’s just done that. If for some reason they tied the conditional pick to snaps played even though he’s a career reserve, then maybe it gets dicier.
Seattle gave up two picks this offseason/preseason and still has double-digit picks projected for next year. I think the Seahawks can live with only 11 instead of 12, even if the latter is more appropriate for the organization.
