Carson Steele will NOT be making the Philadelphia Eagles’ initial 53-man roster.
The team is cutting the preseason standout running back, according to a report from Ryan Fowler.
Steele led the Eagles in receiving this summer with 14 receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns. In what was mostly a boring preseason for the Birds, Steele offered some fun moments by hurdling defenders and running hard after the catch.

That being said, I can’t say I’m surprised the Eagles cut Steele; I didn’t have him on my final 53-man roster projection. Steele spent the entire 2025 season on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad, so, it hasn’t been like other teams have been dying to get him. And he only produced 59 rushing yards on 21 carries (2.8 average) over three preseason games.
Assuming he clears waivers, Steele seems like a good bet to return to the Eagles on their practice squad.
