Delaware lands commitment from prolific 4-star QB Julian Reese

Delaware surged down the stretch and landed a commitment from one of the nation’s most dynamic quarterbacks on Friday.

Four-star Class of 2027 quarterback Julian Reese committed to play for the Blue Hens just hours before kicking off his senior season at Amarillo (Texas) Palo Duro. Delaware edged past UTEP, Delaware, UNLV, and Houston for the No. 28-rated passer in the country.

Reese accounted for more than 3,000 yards passing with 31 passing touchdowns and 12 more rushing touchdowns in 12 games as a junior. He added almost 500 more yards on the ground as well. He’s stoked about his opportunities at Delaware.

“Delaware is on top for me because of the way the players and coaches made me feel. It was like they’ve known me forever,” Reese told Rivals of his decision to commit to the Blue Hens on Friday, after evaluating his finalists for most of the summer.

“They make it feel like home by the way they treated me … it was like they had been knowing me my entire life. I feel like I fit in at Delaware because of the schemes they run … it’s very similar to my high school’s, so it will pretty much be the same thing I’m doing now,” he continued. “I also feel like Coach (Ryan) Carty believes that I can be the face of the program. It just feels like home to me.”

The multi-sport athlete from West Texas was a top performer at the Rivals Camp in Nashville. Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power raved about Reese’s performance in the camp setting.

“Reese is an elite athlete for the position and showed encouraging passing ability,” Power wrote. (He is) re currently on the cusp of four-star status with Rivals.”

As a junior, Reese passed for 3,053 yards with 31 TDs compared to 3 INTs. He added another 449 yards and 12 TDs rushing. He also landed 2 INTs in snaps at defensive back. Houston and Wake Forest loved the four-star QB at safety.
