After scoring 16 runs across two nights, it seemed like the Yankees offense had finally figured it out, but they turned in another flat performance to drop the series against Houston last night. It’s not what you want, not with Gerrit Cole looking sharp again, though Cole was again victimized, a high fly from Christian Walker proving to be the difference. New York will have to shake it off quickly, as they roll right into another crucial series.
Tonight, it’s time for Yankees-Red Sox. A makeup of a game postponed on 6/6 leaves us with four NYY-BOS games in three days, a monumental occasion in any context, and with the two sides jockeying for playoff position, there’s potential for this to be a very memorable weekend.
