The Pittsburgh Steelers are restructuring the contract of wide receiver DK Metcalf, per Field Yates. The team is converting his base salary into a signing bonus, which will create nearly $18 million in cap space. Upon being acquired via trade from the Seattle Seahawks in March, 2o25, Metcalf and the Steelers agreed to a four-year, $132 million extension.

One would believe this has everything to do with getting a long-term deal done with Joey Porter Jr, which Brooke Pryor hinted at in response to the news.

“Seems like $18 million in cap space could help a team navigate past an ‘impasse,” Pryor posted on X.

It certainly does seem like this is Pittsburgh getting one step closer to signing their rising star cornerback to a long-term extension after extending Nick Herbig, Darnell Washington, and Keeanu Benton.
