The New York Giants signed a pair of players to fill out their offense on Wednesday. The team announced Wednesday afternoon that they’ve signed TE Josiah Deguara and WR Kobe Prentice.

Prentice, 22, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of Baylor by the Carolina Panthers after the 2026 NFL draft. he spent the first three years of his career playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide before transferring to Baylor for his final season in 2025. Prentice is an undersized but athletic receiver who will likely fill in for Calvin Austin III, who suffered a torn ACL in Tuesday’s practice.

Standing just 5-foot-9, 184 pounds, Prentice is a bit bigger than Austin, though he isn’t quite as impressively athletic as Austin. That said, Prentice has good speed (4.39-second 40 yard dash), explosiveness (36-inch vertical), and acceptable quickness (7.16 second 3-cone drill).

Deguara, meanwhile, is an experienced TE with “move” versatility . The 29-year old was drafted by the Green Bay Packers out of Cincinnati in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL draft. Though Deguara’s rookie season was ended early by a torn ACL, he spent the next four years (2020-2023) with the Packers. He then played for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2024) and Arizona Cardinals (2025). He was signed by the San Francisco 49ers to a 1-year deal in 2026, but was released on August 24th.

Deguara has played in 77 games with 12 starts, averaging 8.9 yards per catch and scoring 3 touchdowns.

Prentice and Deguara likely take the roster spots opened by the trade of Joshua Ezeudu to the Kansas City Chiefs and the injury to Calvin Austin III.
