Free agent guard Lester Quinones was first linked to Real Madrid a little over two weeks ago by Chema de Lucas (Twitter link), and Jose Luis Martinez of Spanish outlet Marca hears the EuroLeague powerhouse has shown renewed interest in the 25-year-old (hat tip to Sportando).

Quinones spent the majority of last season in the G League with the Osceola Magic, earning a spot on the All-NBAGL First Team after averaging 22.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 0.9 steals on .478/.396/.839 shooting in 50 appearances (31.3 minutes per game) with Orlando’s affiliate team.

A three-year NBA veteran who has suited up for Golden State, Philadelphia and New Orleans, Quinones reportedly drew some interest from Toronto in March and played well last month for the Magic’s Summer League team in Las Vegas. He also had a brief stint with the Qingdao Eagles in China in 2025/26.

Both reporters note that Quinones represents the Dominican Republic in international competition and wouldn’t take up a non-EU spot for Real Madrid, which was previously said to be eyeing Lonnie Walker IV and Armoni Brooks. Walker signed a non-guaranteed training camp deal with the Nuggets, while Brooks will play for Valencia Basket in 2026/27.

According to Luis Martinez, the manager of the Dominican national team, Junior Paez, was recently asked about Quinones. “I understand that he is possibly signing in Spain,” Paez reportedly said.

While Paez didn’t specify which Spanish team was eyeing Quinones, Luis Martinez writes that all signs point to it being Real Madrid. Los Blancos recently signed 2025 second-round pick Max Shulga, another young guard who won’t occupy a non-EU spot (he’s Ukrainian).
