Veteran guard/forward Bogdan Bogdanovic was linked to a couple different EuroLeague teams in the lead-up to free agency, but he prioritized continuing his career in the NBA. Denver reportedly expressed interest in the Serbian national team star, who ended up signing a one-year, minimum salary contract with the Rockets.
Bogdanovic, whose deal with Houston is guaranteed, recently spoke to Vasilije Matkovic of Serbian outlet RHTN about his preparations for the upcoming season — he’s been training in Montenegro — and said he’s “happy” to be a Rocket, as Eurohoops relays.
“For this season, my first goal is to stay healthy, achieve team success and put myself in a position to compete for an NBA championship,” said Bogdanovic, who battled a nagging hamstring injury throughout 2025/26 after rupturing his hamstring last summer at EuroBasket 2025. “That would be a huge step forward.”
The 33-year-old didn’t rule out a potential return to Europe in the future, particularly with Partizan Belgrade, his hometown team, but it’s not what he’s focused on right now.
“I have now signed with Houston, and my mind is completely there. I can’t think about what might happen in two, three or four years.”
