It was announced on Sunday that Naji Marshall had agreed to a three-year extension with the Mavericks, with whom he enjoyed a career-best season last year.

The specifics of the deal are now available. Marc Stein of The Stein Line reports that Marshall will earn $18.2MM in the 2027/28 season, and the deal will decline over the next two years, to $17.3MM in 2028/29 and $16.7MM in 2029/30 (Twitter link).

Because of the declining nature of the contract, Marshall will remain trade-eligible moving forward, Yossi Gozlan of The Third Apron notes (via Twitter). Annual raises higher than five percent would trigger a six-month trade restriction.

This could be an important facet of the deal, due to the abundance of forwards and dearth of guards currently on Dallas’ roster.

According to team CEO RC Buford, it will be a mixed group in terms of roles, rather than just including teammates. “Our coaches and players are going to be here together next week, doing some work in Paris,” Buford said. “They’re coming over to see Victor, about eight or ten of them.”
• The University of Kansas has hired Rockets senior team counsel Sam Strantz as the school’s Executive Director of Front Office Strategy and Operations, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports (via Twitter), calling the role “essentially a centralized general manager” position.
