Janice McNair, the co-founder and former owner of the Houston Texans, has died at the age of 89.
The Texans announced McNair’s passing in a statement released Tuesday, July 14 on social media.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce Houston Texans Co-Founder and Senior Chair Janice S. McNair passed away peacefully in Houston this afternoon with her family by her side,” the team wrote. “Mrs. McNair was 89 years old.”

McNair served as the principal owner of the Texans from 2018 to 2024 following the death of her husband, Bob McNair. She spent six seasons in that role before transferring ownership of the team to her son, Cal McNair.
