There has been a lot of talk about year two of Dallas Cowboys cornerback Shavon Revel this offseason. After a banged up and disappointing rookie campaign, there has been optimism surrounding Revel heading into 2026.

It is still to be determined who will start on the outside opposite of DaRon Bland (assuming he’s healthy) when the Cowboys kick things off against the New York Giants in week one, but with a whole new defensive staff on board, many people’s money, as of today, is on Cobie Durant.

Durant has started 39 games in the NFL, and participated in more than that. That kind of experience may be just what the Cowboys need, along with Bland, to hit the ground running in Christian Parker’s defense. Obviously training camp will have a lot to do with it, but for now we’re slotting Durant across from Bland.
That leaves competition at CB3-4 between Revel and the rookie cornerback out of Florida, Devin Moore.
Moore, similar to Revel, dealt with multiple injuries throughout his career at Florida, but when healthy and on the field, he showed signs of being one of the top cover cornerbacks in the SEC. The Cowboys selected Moore in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL draft. Along with Moore, the Cowboys spent a lot of time this offseason adding to their cornerback room, a position that may have been the weakest on the Cowboys roster in 2025.
With Revel expected to be back to full health, and Moore now added to the mix, and the free agent additions of Cobie Durant and Derion Kendrick, the Cowboys have both veteran talent and youth in their cornerback room. With Caleb Downs expected to play a lot of nickel in his rookie campaign, that leaves a lot of bodies battling it out for playing time behind whoever starts.

When camp kicks off in Oxnard at the end of the month, my eyes will be locked in on how the Revel and Moore battle is playing out.
