The latest positional ranking from ESPN dropped this morning, and this time, linebackers were the ones getting recognized. While the Miami Dolphins are lacking in stars due to the mass exodus of talent that coincided with the organization’s latest rebuild attempt, one spot where they seem to have talent is the linebacker room.
Last year, Miami’s stud linebacker Jordyn Brooks was recognized as a first-team All-Pro player by the Associated Press — marking the first time in his six-year career he has earned those honors. He led the National Football League in tackles — wracking up 183 total tackles and 99 solo tackles. He also contributed 3.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

As such, Brooks cracked the top-10 of ESPN’s linebacker rankings — coming in at 7th overall. Here’s what the four-letter network’s Jeremy Fowler had to say about Miami’s defensive leader.
“Brooks is back in the top 10 after a lull. The 27th pick of the 2020 draft was an ascending player with the Seahawks before suffering an ACL tear late in the 2022 season, compromising his 2023 campaign. He rebuilt his career in Miami, where he became a first-team All -Pro. His 5.9% run stop percentage topped all off-ball linebackers, and his 13 tackles for loss ranked second at his position last season. Brooks was the first Dolphins player to lead the NFL in tackles since Zach Thomas in 2006.
“Brooks has a skill set similar to Demario Davis when he was young — really strong, fast, physical, can play in space, very good tackler,” an NFL coordinator said.“
Brooks will look to continue to lead a linebacker crew that adds a second-round pick in Jacob Rodriguez who happened to go to the same college as Miami’s leader — Texas Tech. If Rodriguez can continue to play like he did in college, and Brooks can continue his All-Pro play, the Dolphins will have a tandem at the position that can do significant damage to opposing offenses weekly.
