The Grizzlies have officially signed No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer to his rookie scale contract, the team announced (via Twitter).
A consensus first-team All-American and the AP’s College Basketball Player of the Year in his first and only season at Duke, Boozer put up incredible numbers as a freshman, averaging 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.4 steals in 33.4 minutes per game across 38 outings. The 6’9″ forward also scored his points extremely efficiently, making 55.6% of his shots from the floor, including 39.1% from beyond the arc, and 78.9% of his tries from the free throw line.
The 18-year-old also has an impressive résumé beyond his NCAA achievements, having won gold medals with Team USA at the Under-16 Americas championship in 2023 and the U17 World Cup in 2024. He was named the MVP of both tournaments.
Through three Summer League games (two in Salt Lake City and one in Las Vegas), Boozer has averaged 18.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 4.0 APG in 26.3 MPG, with a shooting slash line of .625/.667/.875.
Boozer is expected to make $11.85MM as a rookie in 2026/27 and $53.8MM over his first four seasons. As with all rookie scale contracts, the final two years are team options.
Boozer’s signing was presumably delayed because the Grizzlies’ roster is very crowded at the moment. They’re now at the offseason maximum of 21 players and still haven’t signed their other first-round pick, Karim Lopez, or their early second-rounder, Richie Saunders.
As our tracker shows, Lopez is the only 2026 first-round pick who remains unsigned. The Mexican forward spent the past two seasons playing for the New Zealand Breakers of the National Basketball League.
