Seven-year NBA veteran Amir Coffey will make the move overseas for the first time in his playing career, having signed a one-year contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv, the Israeli team announced in a press release.
Coffey, 29, joined the Clippers on a two-way contract in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota. After playing on two-way deals for most of his first three seasons in the league, he was elevated to the standard roster in March 2022 as he established himself as a regular part of the team’s rotation, then signed a three-year, $11MM during the 2022 offseason to remain in L.A.
During his final season with the Clippers in 2024/25, the 6’7″ wing averaged 9.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game across 72 appearances (13 starts), posting a shooting line of .471/.409/.891. The performance earned him a deal with the Bucks last August under his former head coach Doc Rivers, but Coffey struggled to make an impact in Milwaukee and was traded to Phoenix at February’s deadline. He averaged just 3.2 PPG and 1.2 RPG in 46 games (10.7 MPG) for the two teams in 2025/26.
Coffey will be joining a Hapoel Tel Aviv team that posted a 23-15 record in EuroLeague play in 2025/26 before losing to Real Madrid in the first round of the playoffs. In Israel’s domestic league, Hapoel went 22-4 in the regular season and fell to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the finals last month.
Hapoel’s roster includes a handful of former NBA players, including Vasilije Micic, Ish Wainright, Tyler Ennis, and Daniel Oturu.
