After spending the better part of the past two seasons in the NBA, former second-round pick Bobi Klintman is headed back overseas, having agreed to a multiyear deal with Virtus Bologna, the Italian team announced in a press release.
Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews first reported that Klintman was drawing EuroLeague interest and singled out Virtus Bologna as a team to watch.
The 37th overall pick in the 2024 draft, Klintman appeared in just 20 NBA games for the Pistons during his two years in the league, playing 113 total minutes. The 6’9″ Swedish forward was waived during the final week of the 2025/26 regular season in order to make room for big man Tolu Smith on the team’s standard roster.
Klintman earned more consistent playing time for the Motor City Cruise in the G League, appearing in 28 games for the Pistons’ affiliate last season and averaging 12.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 steals in 26.2 minutes per contest, with a shooting line of .466/.390/.730.
Klintman will be joining a Virtus Bologna team that placed atop the Lega Basket Serie A regular season standings in 2025/26 but was eliminated in the semifinals of the Italian league’s postseason by Reyer Venezia. Virtus was less competitive in Europe’s top league this past season, recording a 14-24 record in EuroLeague games and finishing well out of the playoff picture.
Before arriving in the NBA, Klintman spent the 2023/24 season with the Cairns Taipans in Australia’s National Basketball League.
