For several years now the equation between the Babbar siblings has remained sour and strained. From poking fun at each other to making accusations and sometimes nasty comments; Aarya and Prateik Babbar have often been at loggerheads. Amid the strained family dynamics, Aarya Babbar recently cracked a joke on genitalia while talking about mental health and referenced it to “chota bhai”.
When the audience burst out laughing, he was quick to clarify, “And by chota bhai, I don’t mean Prateik Babbar.” He further went on to add, “Prateik Smita Patil” as Prateik has removed ‘Babbar’ surname from his name. Now, the former Bigg Boss contestant has clarified his stance on the whole matter.
Aarya clarifies
Aarya also captioned his post, sharing the clip as, “No names were changed in the making of this joke.” Prateik Babbar has not reacted to the clip going viral yet.
Speaking to HT, Aarya mentioned that he just wanted to clarify that by ‘chota bhai’ he didn’t mean ‘Prateik Babbar’. But was quick to realise that he has changed his name and is quite sensitive towards ‘Babbar’ being added to his name.
Sensitive towards name
“I speak about chota bhai in terms of depression, and in the moment, I just said that chota bhai does not mean Prateik Babbar. As soon as I said it, I realised that he has changed his name and he is quite sensitive about this thing that he doesn’t want to be called Prateik Babbar,” Aarya said.
“So, I just corrected myself. The world knows that I don’t take Smita Maa’s name without adding maa, so I said that. For me, it was not a joke. I was just stating a fact, the audience found humour in that,” he added.
Aarya also said that even though reconciliation is not on the charts for them. Babbar added that he would rather have direct communication with his brother rather than via the media.
