Rajinikanth is all set to return to the big screen with Thalaivar 173, officially titled Dharman. On Wednesday, the makers unveiled the superstar’s striking first look from the film, sending fans into a frenzy. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the upcoming film is backed by Kamal Haasan.
Dharman first look
One of the most anticipated projects in Tamil cinema, Dharman marks a major collaboration between Rajinikanth, Ashwath Marimuthu and Kamal Haasan. Sharing the poster on social media, the makers captioned it, “Righteousness alone will triumph!”
The film also stars Simran and Raashi Khanna in key roles. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography is handled by Niketh Bommi, editing by Pradeep E. Ragav, while the action sequences are choreographed by stunt duo Anbariv.
Further details, including the film’s release date, are yet to be announced.

Previously referred to as Thalaivar 173, the film is expected to go on floors soon. According to reports, shooting begins on June 25. Director Ashwath Marimuthu, known for Oh My Kadavule and Dragon, confirmed during the launch event that Rajinikanth will be playing a doctor in the film.
In the newly released first-look poster, Rajinikanth appears in a striking avatar. Dressed in blue surgical scrubs with his trademark swag, the superstar is seen holding a blood-stained scalpel inside what appears to be an operation theatre. The image also features a lifeless body lying beneath him, introducing him as “The Deadly Doctor.”
Reacting to the poster, one fan wrote, “DD – Doctor Dharman,” while another commented, “Woaa.” However, some social media users questioned whether the poster was created using AI. “Chat GPT????,” wrote one user, while another commented, “Bro AI?”
