Former NC State guard Quadir Copeland plans to sign a two-way deal with the Rockets, sources tell Jake Fischer of The Stein Line (Twitter link).
Copeland, who went undrafted on Wednesday, averaged 13.9 points, an ACC-best 6.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in 34 appearances as a senior for the Wolf Pack (28.9 minutes per game). He was named to the All-ACC third team in 2025/26.
At 6’6″, Copeland brings tremendous size for a lead guard. While his shooting slash line (.494/.397/.775) looks very good on the surface, it’s a little misleading, as he only attempted 1.7 threes per game (58 total).
Houston moved up to select Ohio State’s Bruce Thornton with the 31st overall pick. They’ll reportedly add another experienced guard in Copeland, who was ranked No. 67 on ESPN’s big board leading up to the draft.
Copeland, a Philadelphia native, spent his first two college seasons at Syracuse and transferred to McNeese State ahead of his junior campaign. He projects to earn $679K as a rookie next season, though that figure is non-guaranteed (it also doesn’t count against the salary cap).
