Free Agent Notes: Bogdanovic, Nuggets, Kessler, Beasley, More
The Nuggets are eyeing veteran guard Bogdan Bogdanovic as a possible free agent target, according to Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops, who relays a report from Djordje Matic of the Serbian outlet Meridian Sport.
Bogdanovic technically remains under contract with the Clippers for the time being, but his deal includes a $16MM team option for the 2026/27 season. L.A. appears unlikely to pick up that option after Bogdanovic was limited to 23 appearances in an injury-plagued ’25/26 campaign and averaged just 7.4 points per game on .388/.347/.800 shooting. Assuming the Clippers pass on that option, the 33-year-old would become an unrestricted free agent.
While Bogdanovic is coming off a down year, he has a proven track record as a secondary scorer, shooter, and play-maker. His skill set would make him a fit as a second unit player for the Nuggets, and his chemistry with star center Nikola Jokic would be an added bonus — Bogdanovic and Jokic have long suited up together as members of the Serbian national team.
Here are a few more notes related to NBA free agency:
- Amid rumors that he’s unhappy about how his negotiations with the Jazz have played out and passed on a contract offer worth upwards of $140MM, Walker Kessler took to Instagram to make it clear he’s not pushing to leave Utah, notes Ryan McDonald of The Deseret News. “I’ve seen what’s being said, and I want it to be clear that I have always wanted to be here,” Kessler wrote on social media. “I love this city, these fans, my teammates, my coaches — that’s real to me. You don’t grow roots where you don’t want to be.”
- Asked today at his pre-draft press conference whether he has spoken to Malik Beasley‘s agent about the possibility of the former sharpshooter returning to Detroit, Pistons head of basketball operations Trajan Langdon said Beasley doesn’t currently have an agent but that he hasn’t talked to the player or anyone in his camp about a reunion, tweets Omari Sankofa II of The Detroit Free Press. Beasley had a big year for Detroit in 2024/25 and was on the verge of re-signing with the team before federal investigators and the NBA began looking at him for a possible connection to illegal betting activity. The 29-year-old still hasn’t been cleared.
