LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Harry Reid International Airport is rolling out star treatment for visitors this week.
The airport and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority kicked off National Travel and Tourism Week with a special welcome event. Arriving travelers were greeted in baggage claim and the rideshare area with showgirls, music, photo ops and free swag bags.

Officials say it’s about celebrating the millions of people who make Las Vegas the sports and entertainment capital of the world.
“From the moment that they land at the airport, we want them to feel like we value them, that we thank them for coming,” said Molly Castano, vice president of public relations and communications for LVCVA.
Rocio, traveling from Florida, said she loved the welcome. “As soon as I got here, I’m like, well, I’m in Vegas… it makes me feel like I’m in Vegas,” she said.
Airport and tourism leaders call travel and tourism the lifeblood of southern Nevada and the backbone of the local economy. They say these moments are meant to set the tone for the whole trip and hopefully bring visitors back again.
The activation runs through National Travel and Tourism Week. Officials say even more big events are on the way this summer.
