It may be a move “across the street,” but the change in scenery, accessability and overall vibe is a world away. Lubbock’s Crunch Fitness is moving to the South Plains Mall.
According to KCBD 11, Crunch, ” officially filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation,” to make the move from their current location at 6205 Slide Road to the South Plains Mall. While the article did not state which spot Crunch would be taking over, it did say it was a whopping 40,000 square feet, so logically it must be one of the former Dillard’s locations.

Even though the move is geographically quite short, it is still estimated to cost $1.2 million (likely a lot of that will be renovations, updates, etc., a gym needs ample bathroom stalls, showers, etc.)
I’m honestly surprised this wasn’t thought of sooner- the amount of interior space and ample parking make this a great logistical choice for a high-volume business like a gym. I guess that they will be able to accommodate more members this way, and absorb the moving cost quickly. It’s also possible they are getting a better deal on the rent; however, there is no information I could find about that.

Getting Premiere Cinemas in our mall was a fantastic upgrade about a decade ago. And since then, I’ve enjoyed walking around the mall before or after a movie, perhaps grabbing a coffee or dinner, or even shopping around. Crunch at South Plains Mall will be great for gym goers who want to “walk off” their workout in a big, air-conditioned space, and for bodybuilders who need to eat right after a workout.
Creating spaces for people to hang out, mingle, and just enjoy is a great thing for Lubbock.
While many places in Lubbock do pilates, barre, bikes, and more, there are a dedicated few that focus on yoga. Here’s a look at these highly-rated, locally-owned spots to refine your practice.
