AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – John Ward Memorial Park, formerly known as Medi Park, will be the site of a new outdoor fitness court.
National Fitness Campaign is the group bringing the court to the park, adding on to the over 750 cities within its network.
The court’s layout is designed to focus on seven bodyweight movements, including core and agility exercises.
John Ward Memorial Park was specifically chosen due to its visibility and existing trails.
Each area of the fitness court will be ADA accessible and built for people of all ages.
“That idea of broad accessibility is really fundamental to the campaign, even the design of the infrastructure itself. One of the best things about the fitness court is that it really meets people where they are. So, whether you’re training seriously, walking the trail for your lunch break, or just trying to get a little more movement throughout the day, there’s always something for anybody to do on there,” said Brian Hudson, senior partnership development manager, National Fitness Campaign.
Future visitors are encouraged to download the Fitness Court app for exercise instruction and additional guidance.
The fitness court is expected to be installed by the end of this summer.
